First time at Auto & Scrap Recyclers?
Arrive Prepared: Bring any scrap metal, appliances, or vehicles you want to sell. Make sure to have a valid ID, as it is required for all transactions.
Understand the Process: When you arrive, you’ll drive between our yellow radiation detector poles onto our 70-foot truck scale for your inbound weight. Once receiving a green light pull off the scale and head to the designated area to find one of our friendly inspectors, they will point you to the correct location for the type of metal you have. After you unload your unwanted materials, drive back onto the scale and wait for the green light. Proceed off the scale to the designated parking area, and bring your valid ID with you to the window to collect your payment!
A Quick Walk Through Selling Scrap
First-time visits to the junkyard can feel a bit overwhelming, but the staff is helpful and will guide you through the process. With a little preparation, it becomes a quick and easy way to make money from scrap while helping the environment by recycling! Here’s what you can do to make the experience smoother:
- Sort Your Metal: Separate ferrous (magnetic) metals like steel from non-ferrous metals like aluminum, copper, and brass. Sorting your scrap can often get you better pricing.
- Remove Non-Metal Parts: Take out any non-metal items, such as rubber, plastic, or wood, from your scrap. This helps ensure you’re only recycling metal and avoids unwanted charges.
- Bring Proper Paperwork: Be sure to bring a valid ID as it is required for all transactions, if you are scrapping an old vehicle bring the title as well.
- Weighing the Scrap: We will weigh your vehicle before you remove your unwanted materials and after to determine to amount you disposed of.
- Payment: After your materials are weighed, you’ll be given a ticket to scan at our ATM for cash payment.
- Safety: Stay clear of heavy machinery working and stay in the designated zones.
By preparing ahead of time, you’ll streamline your junkyard visit and ensure you get the best value for your scrap metal. Once you’re familiar with the process, it becomes a hassle-free way to make money and recycle!
